History
All Nippon Airways traces its origins to the Japan Helicopter and Aeroplane Transport Company, founded in December 1952, which took the ANA name in December 1957 after merging with Far East Airlines in 1958. The airline grew into Japan's largest carrier by fleet size and passengers, joined Star Alliance in October 1999, and reorganized in April 2013 under a holding company, ANA Holdings, which now oversees more than 70 subsidiaries including low-cost carrier Peach Aviation.
Current Operations
ANA operates an extensive domestic network covering all of Japan alongside international routes to China, Korea, India, Southeast Asia, North America, Mexico, Australia and Western Europe, flying from its Tokyo Haneda and Narita hubs. The group completed full acquisition of Nippon Cargo Airlines by October 2023, expanding its freighter operations, and won multiple Skytrax awards in 2024 for airport and staff service quality.
