History
Scoot was launched in 2012 by Singapore Airlines as a medium/long-haul low-cost carrier, initially flying Boeing 777s before transitioning to 787 Dreamliners. In 2016-2017, Singapore Airlines merged Scoot with its short-haul low-cost sister carrier Tigerair, with the combined airline retaining the Scoot brand but operating under Tigerair's air operator's certificate and adopting new IATA/ICAO codes (TR/TGW) in place of Scoot's original TZ/SCO codes. Scoot has since expanded into a full-network low-cost carrier spanning both short- and long-haul routes under Singapore Airlines Group's Budget Aviation Holdings.
Current Operations
Scoot is Singapore Airlines' low-cost long- and short-haul subsidiary, operating a mixed fleet of Boeing 787-8/787-9 Dreamliners for medium/long-haul routes and Airbus A320/A320neo-family aircraft plus a small number of Embraer E190-E2s for short-haul, regional flying. It flies from its Singapore Changi home base (with Taipei Taoyuan as a secondary focus city) to more than 55 destinations across Asia, Oceania and Europe, and is a member of the Value Alliance low-cost carrier grouping alongside codeshare ties to Singapore Airlines and other partners. Note that Scoot's original "TZ" IATA code and "SCO" ICAO code (used 2012-2017) were replaced by "TR"/"TGW" after its 2017 merger with sister carrier Tigerair, so current bookings and flight tracking use the newer codes even though the airline continues to trade as Scoot.
