History
SkyWork Airlines operated scheduled European services and seasonal charters from its base at Bern Airport (with additional seasonal flying from Basel) for roughly a decade. Chronic financial weakness led Switzerland's Federal Office of Civil Aviation to threaten to revoke its operating licence in October 2017 unless new funding was secured, and the airline briefly cancelled its winter 2017 schedule launch while seeking investment. After a final attempt to bring in a new investor fell through, SkyWork declared bankruptcy and stopped all flying on 29 August 2018.
Current Operations
SkyWork Airlines does not operate. The Swiss regional carrier, based at Bern Airport, declared bankruptcy and ceased all flights with immediate effect on the evening of 29 August 2018 after last-minute talks with a prospective investor collapsed, leaving roughly 11,000 ticket holders stranded or with unusable bookings. It handed back its operating licence to Swiss authorities and was not revived under new ownership; Bern Airport subsequently lost most of its scheduled commercial service.
