History
SKY express was established in 2005 and began operations that July as a small Crete-based regional carrier, gradually rebuilding itself from a marginal domestic operator into Greece's largest airline by number of destinations served. Over the following two decades it modernized its fleet with ATR 72-600 turboprops for thin island routes and Airbus A320neo-family jets for higher-density domestic and international routes, expanding well beyond its Heraklion base to link Athens and other Greek cities with an extensive network of islands and, increasingly, international points across Europe.
Current Operations
SKY express operates a mixed fleet of Airbus A320neo-family jets and ATR 72-600 turboprops (roughly 20-plus aircraft in 2025-2026, with further A320neo/A321neo and ATR deliveries scheduled) from its main base at Heraklion International Airport on Crete, alongside secondary operations from Athens. It serves around 35 domestic destinations — including many smaller Greek island airports reachable only by turboprop — plus roughly 18 international destinations across Europe, reporting revenues of about €440.75 million in 2024. It is not a member of any global alliance but holds codeshare and interline agreements with carriers including Air France, KLM, British Airways, Delta Air Lines, and Qatar Airways.
