History

The airline now known as Air Corsica was established on 1 January 1989 at the initiative of Pierre Philippe Ceccaldi, president of Corsica's regional assembly, to improve air links to and from the island, and began scheduled flights on 1 July 1990 with a fleet of ATR 72s. In November 2000 the carrier adopted the name CCM Airlines, and it went on to add Fokker F28 and later Airbus A319/A320 jets to its fleet. In October 2010 the airline rebranded again as Air Corsica, and in December 2019 it became the first French operator of the Airbus A320neo.

Current Operations

Air Corsica operates an Airbus A320-family fleet (A319/A320, including A320neos) alongside ATR 72 turboprops, serving as Corsica's principal airline with bases at Ajaccio, Bastia, Figari and Calvi. It flies scheduled routes linking Corsica to mainland France and other European points and also operates certain routes as a franchise partner for Air France and ITA Airways under codeshare arrangements. The airline is privately held by Corsican and French shareholders and is not aligned with any of the major global alliances.
