History
Aircompany Yakutia was formed in 2002 through the merger of regional Sakha Republic carriers Sakha Avia and Yakutavia, consolidating air service across Russia's vast and sparsely populated Sakha (Yakutia) region. Owned by the government of the Sakha Republic, it built a mixed fleet combining Western-built jets for regional and Moscow trunk routes with Soviet-legacy and, later, Bombardier and Sukhoi regional aircraft for shorter routes. In 2020 it became part of a Russian government-driven consolidation of Far Eastern regional carriers into a unified regional aviation structure. Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the airline has operated under the weight of Western sanctions restricting access to aircraft, parts, and international airspace, including an EU flight ban listing, sharply curtailing its international operations.
Current Operations
Aircompany Yakutia operates domestic and regional Russian and CIS routes from its main base at Yakutsk Airport, with a secondary presence at Moscow Vnukovo, flying a fleet that has historically included Boeing 737s, Bombardier Q300/Q400 turboprops, and Sukhoi Superjet 100s serving the vast and sparsely populated Sakha (Yakutia) region alongside longer domestic and CIS trunk routes. As with other Russian carriers, its international reach has been severely constrained since 2022 by Western sanctions and airspace restrictions: the airline is listed on the European Union's air-safety ban list (as of a February 2026 update), and access to Western-made aircraft, parts, and leasing has been disrupted, pushing the carrier — like Russian aviation broadly — toward reliance on parallel-import parts, cannibalization of grounded aircraft, and gradually increasing use of domestically produced types.
