History
SeaPort Airlines was founded on 5 June 2008 and built a commuter network across the U.S. Pacific Northwest, Mid-South and Southwest, initially flying routes such as Portland–Seattle before pivoting in late 2011 toward federally subsidized Essential Air Service (EAS) flights to small rural airports, which by late 2013 brought in nearly $14 million a year in federal subsidies.
Current Operations
SeaPort Airlines does not operate today. Co-founder Kent Craford later attributed the carrier's collapse to its reliance on notoriously unprofitable EAS routes; the airline filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on 5 February 2016, ceased all operations on 20 September 2016, and the case was subsequently converted to a Chapter 7 liquidation.
