History

Nouvelair was established in 1989 as Air Liberté Tunisie and began flying on 21 March 1990, later renamed Nouvelair. It grew into Tunisia's largest private airline, built around leisure charter traffic linking European tourist markets with Tunisia's Mediterranean resort destinations at Monastir, Djerba and elsewhere, complementing state-owned flag carrier Tunisair.

Current Operations

Nouvelair operates an Airbus A320-family fleet and remains, as of 2026, primarily a leisure/charter carrier specializing in flying European holidaymakers to Tunisian beach resorts, alongside scheduled point-to-point services. It flies from three main Tunisian bases: Monastir Habib Bourguiba International Airport (where its head office is located), Tunis-Carthage International Airport, and Djerba-Zarzis International Airport. Nouvelair is privately owned by a Tunisian shareholder consortium (historically led by Tunisian Travel Service) and is not a member of any global alliance.
