History
Air Arabia Maroc was established in 2009 as a joint venture between the Sharjah-based Air Arabia group and Moroccan partners, including regional aviation and investment interests, becoming the first low-cost carrier based in Morocco. It launched commercial operations from Casablanca in May 2009, positioning itself to serve intra-Morocco and short-haul international routes at budget fares. The airline has operated continuously since launch, though it has drawn regulatory attention over safety-management practices in recent years.
Current Operations
Air Arabia Maroc operates as the Moroccan low-cost affiliate of the UAE-based Air Arabia group, flying an Airbus A320-family fleet from its base at Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) near Casablanca to destinations across Morocco, Europe, and the wider Mediterranean and Middle East region. The carrier has faced scrutiny over safety oversight, including a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) audit in October 2024 that flagged concerns about crew duty-time limits and aircraft airworthiness management. It previously closed its secondary base at Agadir in October 2019 and scaled back some route operations.
