History
Maldivian began life as Island Aviation Services, established on 13 April 2000 as the Maldives' state-owned domestic carrier, and rebranded as Maldivian on 25 August 2008. It grew from a small inter-island operator into the country's flag carrier, adding seaplane services, medevac operations and eventually international routes.
Current Operations
Maldivian is active as the Maldives' flag carrier, flying a mixed fleet of Airbus A320/A330 jets, ATR 42/72 turboprops and DHC-6 Twin Otter seaplanes from its Velana International Airport hub in Malé to domestic islands, resort seaplane bases, and a growing list of international destinations in Asia and beyond.
