History

Air Europe (Italy) began flying on 19 December 1989 as part of the UK-based Airlines of Europe Group, became fully Italian-owned in 1991, and later became a subsidiary of Volare Airlines. When the Volare Group collapsed in 2004, Alitalia acquired the airline and progressively absorbed it into the Alitalia Group.

Current Operations

The airline no longer exists as an independent operator; it flew leisure long-haul and charter routes from Milan Malpensa until the brand was shut down in December 2008.
