History

Hokkaido International Airlines, trading as AIRDO, was established in 1996 and began flights in 1998 as an independent challenger airline aimed at lowering fares on routes between Hokkaido and Tokyo, historically dominated by Japan's major carriers.

Current Operations

AIRDO operates Boeing 767 and 737 jets on domestic Japanese routes centered on New Chitose Airport (Sapporo) and Tokyo Haneda, and maintains extensive codeshare and schedule-coordination ties with All Nippon Airways (ANA) even though it remains a separately branded carrier outside the major global alliances.
