Air Dolomiti

History

Air Dolomiti was founded and began commercial operations on 21 January 1991 to connect smaller Italian cities with the rest of Europe, flying out of its base near Verona. It formed a commercial partnership with Lufthansa starting in 1993, became an official Lufthansa partner airline in 1994, and was progressively acquired by the German carrier until becoming a wholly owned Lufthansa Group subsidiary in 2003. In 2009 it became the first Italian airline to operate the Embraer 195, a type that has since become the backbone of its fleet as it settled into its role as Lufthansa's dedicated Italian regional feeder.

Current Operations

Air Dolomiti operates a fleet of roughly 28 Embraer regional jets (a mix of E190s and E195s) flying around 550 weekly flights that link Italian and other European cities exclusively to Lufthansa's hubs at Munich and Frankfurt, functioning as a hub-and-spoke feeder within Lufthansa Regional. It is headquartered near Verona, Italy, and while not itself a separate member of Star Alliance, all of its flights are marketed and sold as Lufthansa-branded connections, tying its network tightly into the wider Lufthansa Group system.
