Nationwide Airlines began in 1991 as Nationwide Air Charter and relaunched as a scheduled carrier under the Nationwide name in 1995, growing into one of South Africa's largest privately owned airlines during the 1990s-2000s with a fleet of Boeing 737s flying domestic and regional routes from Johannesburg.
