BQB Líneas Aéreas was a Uruguayan carrier, registered as Los Cipreses S.A. and owned by Juan Carlos López Mena (also the owner of the Buquebus ferry line), that began flying around 2010 from its base at Carrasco International Airport in Montevideo with a Punta del Este focus. It operated ATR 72 turboprops on domestic routes such as Montevideo–Salto and Montevideo–Rivera, positioning itself as a low-fare alternative to bus travel, and later added Airbus A319/A320 jets as it pushed into regional international routes across Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil.
Current Operations
BQB ceased operating independently on 11 April 2015 amid a financial crisis, and five days later its assets and operating permits were acquired by Bolivia's Amaszonas Group, which used them to launch a new subsidiary, Amaszonas Uruguay, in 2016. That successor carrier itself suspended flights in November 2020 and shut down entirely in January 2021, so no airline currently operates under the BQB name or the 5Q code.
