History

Aerocondor (ATA – Aerocondor Transportes Aéreos) was founded in 1975 by former Portuguese Air Force colonel Victor Brito, operating under the umbrella of the wider Aerocondor Group. It began flying regional routes such as Bragança–Vila Real and grew into a Portuguese charter and scheduled operator serving destinations across Europe, Africa and the Middle East, while the group also ran an associated flight training school. The airline was based at Cascais Aerodrome and later added a Lisbon–Madeira scheduled service to its network.

Current Operations

Aerocondor does not operate today. It suspended its scheduled domestic Portuguese routes in May 2008 and formally declared bankruptcy in June 2008 after running into serious financial difficulty, and it has not resumed flying since.
