Uruguay's official aeronautical museum, run by the Uruguayan Air Force and part of the National Museum System, covers both civil and military aviation history in the country from early balloon flights through modern aviation. Founded in 1954 by Col. Jaime Meregalli from his personal collection, it has moved several times and has sat beside Carrasco International Airport since 2013. It is open to the public Sundays 14:00–18:00 with free admission, and offers guided weekday visits for schools and groups.
