OSI — Other Service Information
Passenger · service-codes · IATA PSCRM (Passenger Services Conference Resolutions Manual)
Definition
OSI (Other Service Information) is a free-text informational note added to a PNR for the airline's awareness. Unlike an SSR, it requires no action from the airline — it carries contextual information such as VIP status, programme membership or contact notes.
OSI — Other Service Information
OSI is the free-text field within the PNR used to pass informational notes to the airline. It is a notification, not a request.
Fundamental Difference from SSR
An SSR (Special Service Request) requires action and confirmation from the airline — wheelchair, special meal and so on. An OSI is purely informational; no airline response is expected. A simple rule: 'Does the airline need to do something?' — Yes → SSR; No → OSI.
Common OSI Uses
Technical Structure
OSI lines are written within the PNR as a combination of airline code and free text, e.g. OSI YY VIP PASSENGER. 'YY' targets all airlines; a specific two-letter code targets only that carrier.
Privacy Note
Because OSI carries free text, there is a risk that sensitive personal data may be included. Under GDPR and similar regulations, OSI notes within PNRs must also comply with the principle of data minimisation.
