Aviation History
Slovenian civil aviation grew around Ljubljana Airport, which began passenger service in the early 1960s, and Adria Airways, founded in 1961 as Adria Aviopromet. Adria became Slovenia's national flag carrier after independence in 1991 and joined Star Alliance in 2004, but collapsed into bankruptcy in September 2019 after 58 years of operation, leaving Slovenia without a flag carrier since.
The airline that would become Adria Airways was established, beginning operations with two DC-6B aircraft purchased from KLM.
A merger with a Serbian company led to the airline's renaming, reflecting its Yugoslav-era ownership structure.
The carrier adopted the Adria Airways name it would carry through Slovenian independence and into the 2000s.

No documented foreign entrant found. Fraport AG (Germany) acquired 75.5% of Ljubljana's airport operating company in 2014 and 100% in 2015 (now "Fraport Slovenija"), and runs a ground-handling-related decarbonization project. Per this project's own exclusion rule, a foreign airport management/operations concessionaire that runs the airport doesn't count unless it itself clearly does the ground handling as a distinct service line — this could not be confirmed clearly enough to treat as a qualifying claim, so it was deliberately excluded. No other foreign ground-handling company's entry into Slovenia was found.
