Getting Around

Xi'an Metro Line 14 runs directly from Xianyang Airport (T3) into the city, connecting to the North Railway Station and onward to Line 2/4 interchanges for the historic center — trains run roughly every 8–12 minutes and the ride to North Railway Station takes about 30–35 minutes.

Airport shuttle buses cover multiple in-city routes (numbered Airport Lines 1 through 10+) departing from the arrivals level, running to the North Railway Station, Bell Tower area, and various hotel districts; fares are roughly CNY25–30 and journeys run 45–60 minutes depending on route and traffic.

Metered taxis queue at a designated rank outside arrivals; the ride downtown (Bell Tower area) takes about 45–60 minutes and typically runs CNY120–150 depending on traffic — expect a wait during peak periods and confirm the meter is running.

Didi (China's dominant ride-hailing app) operates at the airport with a designated pickup zone; it's the practical option for most foreign visitors since Uber doesn't operate in mainland China — a Didi account can be set up with an international phone number and card.

Major Chinese rental brands (Shenzhou, eHi) and some international counters are on site, but self-driving is rarely worth it for visitors — you'd need a Chinese driving permit, and Xi'an's core sights are well served by metro, bus and Didi.
