Inside the airport

Terminal 3's satellite concourse (linked by automated people mover) has more shopping and dining than the older sections of the main terminal — worth the ride over even if you're not flying from that pier.

There's no single standout hotel to point to inside the airport itself — if you need to sleep, book a Bao'an-district or Shenzhen city property with an airport shuttle, and reconfirm the shuttle schedule directly.

China's nationwide visa-free transit rule lets eligible passport holders (Australia, the US, UK, most EU countries and dozens more) stay up to 240 hours without a visa, provided you're booked onward to a third country/region and enter and exit through an approved port. Shenzhen Bao'an is generally treated as one of those ports, but the eligible-nationality and eligible-port lists get revised, so confirm your specific routing qualifies before building a layover around it.
