Transport Options at SZX
Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport is connected to Shenzhen and the wider China transport network by multiple ground transport options.
Shenzhen Metro Line 11 (Airport Express) stops directly beneath Terminal 3 (a short walk to the terminal building) and reaches Futian in about 30 minutes for roughly CNY 10; trains run frequently (about every 3-6 minutes) between roughly 06:00 and midnight. Reaching destinations further from Futian (e.g., Luohu near the Hong Kong border) takes considerably longer with a transfer.
Airport Express buses run from the Ground Transport Center to various city districts roughly between 07:45 and midnight, with fares around CNY 20 and journey times of about 60-90 minutes depending on destination and traffic.
Metered taxis to the city center cost roughly CNY 100 (plus a small ~CNY 3 airport surcharge) and take about 30-40 minutes; a roughly 20% surcharge applies at night (around 23:00-06:00).
Uber does not operate in mainland China; Didi Chuxing is the standard rideshare app and is widely used at SZX, with a designated pickup area at the terminal.
Rental counters (mostly domestic Chinese agencies) are available at the airport, but self-drive generally requires a Chinese driver's license — a standard foreign license or IDP is not usable for self-drive rental, which limits this option for most international travelers.
SZX also has a ferry link (Fuyong Ferry Terminal, a short shuttle-bus ride from Terminal 3) to Hong Kong's Sky Pier for through-checked passengers on participating airlines — a useful shortcut for onward Hong Kong connections, but service levels have varied in recent years, so verify the current schedule before planning around it.
