Transport Options at SHA
Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is connected to Shanghai (Minhang) and the wider China transport network by multiple ground transport options.
Metro Lines 2 and 10 both serve Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 station, connecting directly to central Shanghai (Line 2 reaches People's Square/the Bund area in about 45–50 minutes); Hongqiao Railway Station, part of the same transport hub, has high-speed trains to Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou and Beijing.
Airport shuttle buses connect Hongqiao to Pudong Airport (SHA–PVG) and various points across Shanghai; useful if you're connecting between Shanghai's two airports.
Metered taxis queue outside arrivals; fare to central Shanghai (e.g. the Bund) is roughly ¥60–100 depending on traffic and takes 30–50 minutes.
Didi operates but generally requires a Chinese phone number/payment method, making it impractical for most short-term visitors without local setup.
Rental desks are available, but self-drive requires a Chinese license for most foreign visitors — metro, taxi, or the SHA–PVG shuttle are the practical options.
Hongqiao's transport hub bundles the airport, metro, and high-speed rail station together under one roof — if your next stop is another Chinese city, it's often faster to take a train from here than to fly.
