Transport Options at PHL
Philadelphia International Airport is connected to Philadelphia and the wider United States transport network by multiple ground transport options.
SEPTA's Airport Line runs from a station between Terminals B & C (pedestrian walkways connect Terminals A-E; a free shuttle serves Terminal F) into Center City in about 20-25 minutes. Fare is $6.75 one-way (around $6 with a SEPTA Key card), trains roughly every 30 minutes, operating approximately 4:50am-11:50pm daily.
SEPTA bus Route 37 connects the airport toward South Philadelphia for about $2.50, but requires a transfer and 45-60 minutes to reach downtown — workable for locals with light luggage, not recommended for most travelers.
Airport taxis charge a flat rate of roughly $32-33 to Center City (20-40 minutes depending on traffic), so no metering surprises for that zone.
Uber/Lyft pick up from signed 'Ride App/Zone 7' areas on the Arrivals level outside each terminal's baggage claim. Typical fares run about $25-45 to Center City, more with surge pricing.
Rental counters and pickup facilities for major brands are on airport property near the terminals; check the current terminal-by-brand assignment on PHL.org before arrival.
The Airport Line train is the best-value route into town, but fare products matter — riding with a pre-loaded SEPTA Key card is cheaper than paying cash or buying onboard, so grab a Key card at a station kiosk if you'll be using SEPTA more than once.
