Best use of a long layover

The L13 shuttle + train combo gets you to Marseille Saint-Charles in about 20–25 minutes, from which it's a short walk or metro ride down to the Vieux-Port and the Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde overlooking the city — enough for a brisk look at the harbor on a several-hour layover.

Inside the airport

The Luberon Lounge (Priority Pass) or the paid Salon VIP Cézanne are the main sit-down options airside in Terminal 1; otherwise there are standard cafés and shops post-security.

No hotel is physically attached to the terminal, but an Ibis Styles and a couple of other airport-adjacent hotels sit a few minutes away by shuttle, near Vitrolles.

Marseille is in the Schengen Area: passengers who don't need a Schengen visa can leave freely between connections, but travelers who do need one must have it sorted before arrival — there's no visa-on-arrival here.
