Best use of a long layover

KLIA Ekspres puts you at KL Sentral in 28–33 minutes; from there it's a short hop to the Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC Park for the classic KL skyline view before heading back.

Inside the airport

Gateway@klia2 is a full retail and dining mall with a cinema attached to the terminal, and the main terminal's satellite building has a rainforest boardwalk if you want a break without clearing immigration.

Sama-Sama Hotel KL International Airport connects directly to the main terminal, and Sama-Sama Express inside klia2 offers airside transit rooms for a short nap without going through immigration at all.

Malaysia requires the Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) to be submitted online before you land, and most visa-exempt nationalities (ASEAN, EU, UK, US, Australia, and others) clear immigration without a visa for a short stay — but do both checks (MDAC submitted, passport visa-exempt) before counting on a city run.
