Transport Options at KUL

Kuala Lumpur International Airport is connected to Sepang and the wider Malaysia transport network by multiple ground transport options.

Rail & Metro

The KLIA Ekspres runs non-stop to KL Sentral in about 28 minutes for RM55 one-way, departing every 20 minutes from 5am to near midnight — it's the fastest and most reliable option, especially given KL's unpredictable traffic.

Bus & Shuttle

The Skybus coach connects KLIA to KL Sentral for RM13 in around 75 minutes, running roughly every 30 minutes between 4:45am and 1:15am — the cheapest option if you're not in a hurry.

Taxi

Official coupon taxis are purchased at counters in Arrivals: budget taxis run about RM75, premier (executive) taxis about RM102, and family-sized vehicles about RM200 to the city center, with a roughly 50% surcharge between 11:30pm and 6am.

Rideshare

Grab operates from designated pickup zones with upfront pricing — typically RM80-100 off-peak, rising to RM110-130 during Friday evenings and holiday peaks, though queues can be long at busy times.

Car Rental

Rental counters are available in both terminals; Malaysia drives on the left and KL's expressway network is well signed, making self-drive a reasonable option for confident visitors.

Insider tip

Both the KLIA Ekspres and Skybus terminate at KL Sentral, so factor in an extra taxi, LRT or MRT connection to reach most hotels — it's rarely a true door-to-door option despite the fast train time.
