Ride AREX (about 43 minutes non-stop) into Seoul Station and walk Gyeongbokgung Palace and the Bukchon Hanok Village, or join one of the airport's own free Transit Tour routes if your layover and the tour schedule line up.

Inside the airport

Darakhyu, a Walkerhill-run capsule hotel with private pods and showers, sits in Terminal 2; both terminals also have free nap zones, showers, and the Transit Tour registration desk for those who'd rather leave than wait.

Darakhyu by Walkerhill (Terminal 2) offers small private hourly-rate capsule rooms, but it sits on the arrivals side rather than inside the airside transit zone — reviewers note you need to clear Korean immigration to reach it — so it only suits travelers eligible to enter Korea; there's no dedicated airside sleep hotel at ICN for pure international-to-international connections.

Incheon runs an official free Transit Tour program (register with passport and both boarding passes at the Transit Tour desk in T1 or T2) open to visa-exempt nationals and to holders of a valid US, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, or Schengen-country visa transiting Korea, as long as the layover is 24 hours or less; K-ETA rules for visa-exempt entry have shifted in recent years, so confirm current status before travel.

Transit visa requirements vary by nationality and change frequently. Always verify with the official embassy or consulate of South Korea before travel.

Use left-luggage storage at Incheon International Airport if you plan to leave the terminal — most airports offer coin lockers or staffed storage near arrivals.
