Transport Options at HKG
Hong Kong International Airport is connected to Hong Kong and the wider Hong Kong transport network by multiple ground transport options.
Airport Express runs from the airport to Hong Kong Station via Tsing Yi and Kowloon Station in about 24 minutes, with trains every 10 minutes. Standard single fares run roughly HK$100-115 to Hong Kong Station (less to Kowloon or Tsing Yi) — check current promotions, as taxi-interchange and other discounts are periodically offered.
Airport buses (A-route) run to various Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and New Territories districts — slower than the Airport Express but far cheaper, and useful if your hotel isn't near an MTR interchange.
Red (urban), green (New Territories) and blue (Lantau) taxis queue at designated ranks — the colour determines which areas they can legally serve, so pick the right queue for your destination.
Ride-hailing apps operate in Hong Kong, but pickup arrangements at the airport are less standardised than at many other hubs — confirm current pickup zone signage on arrival.
Rental counters are limited relative to many Western hubs, reflecting how little car rental features in typical Hong Kong itineraries — most visitors rely on the MTR/taxi network instead.
If you're checked in for a same-day flight, you can use in-town check-in facilities at Hong Kong or Kowloon Station before boarding the Airport Express — a genuine time-saver not available at most other airport rail links.
