Browse the duty-free and food court in the newly expanded T2 international terminal, which reopened in December 2025 with roughly double the boarding gates and jet bridges plus automated immigration lanes — noticeably more spacious than the old building, so allow a little extra unhurried time if you're exploring rather than rushing.

VATC SleepPod at Terminal 2 is an in-terminal capsule hotel reachable without leaving the airport — a genuinely convenient option for a short sleep between long-haul legs, though as with the rest of T2 it's part of a very recently completed expansion, so double-check current location signage on arrival.

Visa-free transit only applies if your layover is under 24 hours AND you stay within the transit area — leaving for the Old Quarter requires either a nationality-based visa exemption or a pre-approved e-visa (Vietnam's e-visa is an advance online application; there's no walk-up visa-on-arrival counter for the general tourist e-visa). Separately, Vietnam made a Digital Arrival Card mandatory for all foreign arrivals from mid-April 2026 — file it online before landing regardless of your visa status; this is a recent change worth double-checking against the latest official guidance before travel.
