Getting Around

Meilan Railway Station is built directly into the airport — reachable from Terminal 1 (Gate 2 of the departure hall, or the Ground Transportation Center opposite arrivals) or via a basement passage in Terminal 2. It's on Hainan's high-speed Eastern Ring line, with a roughly 35-minute ride to downtown Haikou for about 10 CNY, running roughly 6:00–23:00 — genuinely the fastest way into the city.

Three airport shuttle bus lines run from outside Gate 4 of the arrival halls (around 20 CNY, ~40 minutes): Line 1 to central Haikou, Line 2 to the West Bus Station, and Line 3 toward the Old Town area.

Metered taxis are available outside Gate 3 of arrivals, roughly 70 CNY (a bit more at night) for the ~40-minute ride downtown.

Didi and Alipay-based ride-hailing operate from designated pickup zones, generally requiring a Chinese phone number to book.

A fairly extensive rental selection given Hainan's push as a free-trade tourism hub, including both domestic and some international firms.
