Getting Around

The Changsha Maglev Express (a dedicated airport branch line) reaches Changsha South high-speed rail station in about 18 minutes, connecting onward to China's national high-speed rail network and Changsha Metro Lines 1 and 2. Metro Line 6 also runs directly from the airport into the city, taking roughly 45 minutes to Wuyi Square with a transfer (service runs about 06:30–23:00).

Airport shuttle Line 1 runs to Wuyi Square (city center) roughly every 20 minutes; Line 2 serves Changsha South Railway Station every ~30 minutes; a Night Line N1 covers 23:30–05:30 to Wuyi Square. All depart from Terminal 2, Exit 3.

Metered taxis queue 24/7 at the terminal exits; the trip to central Changsha (about 25 km) typically runs ¥130–190 (roughly $18–27).

DiDi (China's dominant ride-hailing app) covers the airport, but the app, phone verification, and in-app payment (Alipay/WeChat Pay) are built around a Chinese phone number — most foreign visitors find the taxi rank or a pre-booked English-language transfer far more practical.

Desks for major domestic agencies operate in the terminal, but self-drive requires a Chinese driving permit (an International Driving Permit alone isn't valid), so most international visitors use taxis, the maglev, or transfers instead.
