The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Rail Link runs to the city center in 45-55 minutes for around 70,000-100,000 IDR, with free shuttle connections from every terminal to the station — the most predictable option given Jakarta's notorious traffic.
DAMRI buses cover a wide range of city destinations (including Thamrin City and Gambir) for 46,000-200,000 IDR depending on route and class, taking 30-60 minutes.
Licensed taxis (Blue Bird, Express, Gamya) cost 190,000-240,000 IDR to the city center for the 25-40 minute ride; executive taxis run 390,000-550,000 IDR.
Grab and Gojek both operate at CGK with pricing similar to regular taxis, sometimes cheaper during off-peak hours — a solid alternative if you don't want to queue for a metered taxi.
Available from roughly 350,000-500,000 IDR/day for a small car; self-driving isn't recommended given Jakarta's traffic density and driving conventions — most visitors use a driver instead.
The train is the one genuinely traffic-proof option here — Jakarta's road congestion can turn a 'quick' taxi or rideshare ride into an hour-plus ordeal at the wrong time of day, especially during rain.
