History

Comair was founded in 1943 (as Commercial Air Services) by former WWII pilots and began charter flights in 1946, later operating as a British Airways franchisee in South Africa from 1996 and launching low-cost subsidiary kulula.com in 2001.

Current Operations

Comair no longer flies: after entering business rescue in 2020 due to COVID-19 losses and a brief relaunch attempt, both its British Airways-branded and kulula.com operations were grounded at the end of May 2022 and the company was placed into final liquidation.
