History
Express One International traces back to 1983, when Alinda and Jim Wikert founded it as Jet East International, which grew into a Boeing 727 freight and Douglas DC-9 passenger charter operator flying from hubs in Austin (Texas), Indianapolis, Atlantic City, and Brussels. The company was purchased by Orchard Capital in 2000, but the loss of key contracts through 2001 pushed it into bankruptcy, and it ceased operations by mid-2002. Later that year a group of six investors led by Richard C. Byers and Larry Brinker bought the company's stock and relocated it to Orlando, Florida, where it continued flying as a smaller charter and cargo carrier under the Express One International name. The airline finally wound down operations for good in 2014.
Current Operations
Express One International is defunct and has not operated any flights since 2014; its interstate operating certificate had already been revoked once, in 2004, during an earlier period of dormancy following the 2002 bankruptcy. No successor carrier operates under its ICAO code (LHN) or Longhorn callsign today.
