Airline Identity
History
Pacific Airlines began in 1991 as a Vietnamese cargo carrier, later becoming a low-cost passenger airline that operated for a period under the Jetstar Pacific brand as a joint venture between Vietnam Airlines and the Qantas Group before reverting to the Pacific Airlines name around 2020 when Qantas exited the venture.
Current Operations
After years of heavy losses, Pacific Airlines suspended all flights on March 18, 2023, returning its leased Airbus fleet to lessors in exchange for debt relief. Wholly owned by state carrier Vietnam Airlines, it resumed limited domestic service on June 26, 2024 using aircraft leased from its parent, operating a small network from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to cities including Da Nang, Hue, Chu Lai, Thanh Hoa and Vinh.
