History
SATENA (Servicio Aéreo a Territorios Nacionales) was founded on April 12, 1962, and entrusted to the Colombian Air Force to provide air connectivity to remote and less-connected regions of the country, becoming a public establishment under the Ministry of National Defence via Law 80 of 1968.
Current Operations
SATENA operates as Colombia's state-owned regional airline, flying a mixed fleet of Beechcraft 1900D and de Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter turboprops (with ATR 72-600s being added and Embraer ERJ-145 jets phased out) from its Bogotá hub to remote domestic destinations, including some of the country's only air links to isolated communities.
