Aviation Museums › Air Force & Military Aviation

Sri Lanka's only national museum dedicated entirely to aviation and the history of the Sri Lanka Air Force (and its predecessor, the Royal Ceylon Air Force). Founded on the idea of Air Chief Marshal Harry Goonatilake, it was established in 1993 and underwent a major modernization under Air Chief Marshal W.D.M.R.J. Goonetileke, reopening on 5 November 2009. It sits inside an active air base, which is unusual among aviation museums and adds to visitor appeal.
