Yellow Crane Tower or the East Lake scenic area are the classic Wuhan sights, roughly an hour from the airport by taxi given the distance out to Tianhe.

Wuhan Tianhe is one of the airports approved for China's 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit, and it's air-arrival only — travelers who enter Wuhan by train or cruise cannot use it. Roughly 50-plus nationalities currently qualify (most of the EU, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and others), provided you're transiting on to a genuine third country or region and register with border police on arrival. Confirm your passport is currently on the eligible list before planning around it, since the country list does change.
Transit visa requirements vary by nationality and change frequently. Always verify with the official embassy or consulate of China before travel.
