Best use of a long layover

Take the train from the underground station beneath the terminal into central Warsaw (roughly 20-30 minutes to Warszawa Centralna/Śródmieście) and walk the reconstructed Old Town (Stare Miasto).

Inside the airport

Poland is in the Schengen Area. Leaving the airport needs visa-free eligibility or a valid Schengen visa; some nationalities without full visa-free access still need an airport transit visa just to change planes here. Flag: the EU's ETIAS pre-authorization for visa-exempt travelers remains delayed (not yet enforced as of mid-2026) — check current status before relying on older guidance.
