How to get to and from Ben Gurion International Airport — taxis, public transport, shuttles and car rental.

Transport Options at TLV

Ben Gurion International Airport is connected to Tel Aviv and the wider Israel transport network by multiple ground transport options.

Rail & Metro

Israel Railways runs a direct train from the airport into Tel Aviv in as little as 11-30 minutes depending on the destination station, for around 10-15 ILS — but it does not operate during Shabbat (Friday evening to Saturday evening) or Jewish holidays.

Bus & Shuttle

Bus 445 links the airport to Tel Aviv but, like the train, does not run during Shabbat; a limited free Line 711 shuttle covers Terminal 1 to select Tel Aviv stops during the Shabbat closure.

Taxi

Licensed taxis are bookable via the Gett app or airport kiosks, with metered fares typically 150-230 ILS depending on traffic and destination — available around the clock including Shabbat, when fares and wait times may be higher.

Rideshare

Uber does not offer traditional ride-hailing in Israel — Gett is effectively the official airport rideshare equivalent, bookable through its app or self-service kiosks landside.

Car Rental

Major international agencies operate at the airport; useful if you're planning to travel beyond Tel Aviv, since inter-city public transport shuts down completely for Shabbat.

Insider tip

There is no longer a scheduled sherut (shared taxi) service at Ben Gurion — if you're arriving on a Friday afternoon or during Shabbat, plan around the train and Bus 445 closures and budget for a taxi via Gett instead.

Ground Transport Tips for TLV

Only use official taxi ranks or pre-booked apps at Ben Gurion International Airport. Avoid unofficial drivers approaching you in arrivals.

If a rail or metro connection exists, it is usually the fastest and most reliable option during rush hour.

Allow extra time for ground transport during peak hours. Tel Aviv city traffic can significantly extend journey times.
