Tbilisi International Airport (TBS)

Getting Around

How to get to and from Tbilisi International Airport — taxis, public transport, shuttles and car rental.

Transport Options at TBS

Tbilisi International Airport is connected to Tbilisi and the wider Georgia transport network by multiple ground transport options.

Rail & Metro

A small 'Airport' railway station sits right next to the terminal; a night train departs daily at 04:00 and reaches Tbilisi Central Railway Station in about 35 minutes for 0.50 GEL. Daytime train frequency isn't confirmed.

Bus & Shuttle

Bus #337 runs to Tbilisi Central Railway Station via Freedom Square and Rustaveli Avenue roughly every 15–20 minutes from about 7am to 11pm (no overnight service); the fare is 1 GEL with a 90-minute transfer window, paid with a tap card available from the Bank of Georgia counter in arrivals.

Taxi

A metered taxi rank runs 24/7 outside arrivals; the metered fare downtown is typically 40–60 GEL for a 20–30 minute ride, though curbside drivers sometimes quote tourists more — confirm the meter is running, or agree a price up front.

Rideshare

Bolt and Yandex Go both operate 24/7 and are usually the cheapest door-to-door option, typically 15–35 GEL.

Car Rental

Rental desks — including Hertz, Sixt, Europcar, Avis, Alamo, Budget, Enterprise, Thrifty, Dollar, and local Georgian operators — are in the arrivals hall past baggage claim; Enterprise is confirmed to run a 24/7 in-terminal office.

Insider tip

The train and bus both undercut a taxi on price and run at similar speed outside rush hour; keep small GEL notes or a transport card handy since not every driver accepts cards.

Transport routes, fares and operators change frequently. Verify current options on the official Tbilisi International Airport website before travel.

Ground Transport Tips for TBS

Only use official taxi ranks or pre-booked apps at Tbilisi International Airport. Avoid unofficial drivers approaching you in arrivals.
If a rail or metro connection exists, it is usually the fastest and most reliable option during rush hour.
Allow extra time for ground transport during peak hours. Tbilisi city traffic can significantly extend journey times.
Download offline maps for Tbilisi before landing — useful if your data connection is slow on arrival.
If travelling with heavy luggage, a private transfer or taxi is often more practical than public transport.
