Getting Around
How to get to and from Cyril E. King Airport — taxis, public transport, shuttles and car rental.
Transport Options at STT
Cyril E. King Airport is connected to Charlotte Amalie and the wider U.S. Virgin Islands transport network by multiple ground transport options.
A public minibus runs roughly hourly between downtown Charlotte Amalie and Red Hook for a $1 fare (first bus from the airport around 6am, last around 8pm) — not recommended if you're on a tight schedule. Informal shared "dollar ride" vans follow a similar route, though some drivers charge visitors full taxi rates.
Taxis are confirmed available at the airport; an older (2014-dated) published rate card lists fares such as Carib/Emerald Beach Hotel $4, Frenchtown $7, Marriott Frenchman's Reef $10, Magens Bay $12, Red Hook/Sugar Bay $15 — treat these as dated reference points rather than current prices, and confirm the fare before riding. Only taxis with a dome light and "TP" on the plate are officially licensed.
Avis, Budget, L&L Jeep Rental and Discount are confirmed with airport listings.
Confirm the taxi rate before getting in — it's a posted-table/negotiated system, not metered — and use GPS navigation if driving yourself for the first time.
