Getting Around
How to get to and from Sarajevo International Airport — taxis, public transport, shuttles and car rental.
Transport Options at SJJ
Sarajevo International Airport is connected to Sarajevo and the wider Bosnia and Herzegovina transport network by multiple ground transport options.
The Centrotrans airport bus runs to Bascarsija (the Old Town) for 5 BAM one-way, with the first bag up to 23kg free; it departs roughly hourly on weekdays and about every 2 hours on weekends. Reported last-bus times vary by source (22:30 vs 23:30), so confirm locally rather than relying on a fixed schedule.
Cash only. Fare to Bascarsija is typically quoted around 15–30 KM depending on the source, plus a small luggage surcharge at times; to Ilidza it's roughly 6–8 KM. The mojTaxi app or Sarajevo Taxi (phone booking) are the recommended ways to hail a ride.
Uber and Bolt do not operate in Bosnia and Herzegovina — use mojTaxi or Sarajevo Taxi instead.
Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Europcar, and Hertz all have a presence at the airport alongside local operators, though it isn't confirmed whether every counter is inside the terminal itself.
Bring cash in convertible marks (KM) — taxis are cash-only, and don't expect Uber or Bolt to be an option here.
