Transport Options at SGN
Tan Son Nhat International Airport is connected to Ho Chi Minh City and the wider Vietnam transport network by multiple ground transport options.
Bus 109 (air-conditioned, tourist-oriented, with luggage racks) runs from the airport to Pham Ngu Lao/District 1 in roughly 45-60 minutes for about 15,000-20,000 VND. The cheaper local Bus 152 reaches Ben Thanh Market for around 6,000 VND but is more basic and slower with luggage.
Metered taxis from established operators (Vinasun, Mai Linh) to District 1 typically cost roughly 150,000-200,000 VND and take 20-30 minutes, longer in heavy traffic; use the official taxi rank at the terminal rather than drivers soliciting inside arrivals.
Grab is very widely used and generally the most convenient option; the designated pickup point has shifted locations at times due to airport regulations, so check the pin/instructions the Grab app gives on arrival rather than assuming a fixed curb spot.
Traditional self-drive rental is limited for foreign visitors; hiring a car with a driver is the common practice, with several operators represented at the airport.
Tan Son Nhat's domestic terminal (the newer Terminal 3, opened 2025) and the international terminal are adjacent within the same complex — an easy walk — unlike some other regional airports where domestic and international buildings are far apart, but double-check current terminal signage since the T3 opening shifted some facilities.
