The free PHX Sky Train (automated people mover, trains every 3-7 minutes, 24/7) links all terminals to the Valley Metro Rail light-rail station at 44th St/Washington. From there, Valley Metro's light rail reaches downtown Phoenix in roughly 15-20 minutes for a normal transit fare (day pass around $4); note the Sky Train itself is free but Valley Metro Rail tickets are bought separately at the station.

Taxi

Metered taxis queue curbside at each terminal; fare to downtown Phoenix runs roughly $25-$35 (15-20 minutes), more to Scottsdale or Tempe.

Rideshare

Uber and Lyft pick up from marked rideshare/TNC zones on the Arrivals level at each terminal, not curbside at departures. PHX adds a small airport pickup fee (around $3) on top of the fare.

Car Rental

All major rental brands are consolidated at the Rental Car Center on E. Sky Harbor Circle South, reached via the free 24/7 PHX Sky Train — no separate shuttle bus is needed.

Insider tip

For a downtown trip, the free Sky Train plus a normal light-rail fare is often cheaper and comparably fast to a taxi or rideshare once you factor in the added rideshare pickup fee and possible traffic — worth considering if you're traveling light.
