Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS)

Getting Around

How to get to and from Lynden Pindling International Airport — taxis, public transport, shuttles and car rental.

Transport Options at NAS

Lynden Pindling International Airport is connected to Nassau and the wider Bahamas transport network by multiple ground transport options.

Bus & Shuttle

There's no official bus stop at the arrivals terminal. Budget travelers walk out along the exit road, past the taxi rank, to the roundabout near the edge of the airport property, where jitney (local minibus) routes 12/12B pass heading toward Bay Street and downtown — flag one down and check the route number in the windshield. Fares run roughly $1.50–2.50 in cash (US dollars accepted at par, but drivers often lack change for large notes). Service generally runs from about 6–7am to 7–8pm only, with long gaps possible, and drivers may refuse large suitcases, so this really only suits light luggage.

Taxi

Taxis use published fixed zone fares rather than meters: roughly $32 to downtown Nassau, $22 to Cable Beach, and $38 to Paradise Island (which adds a $2 bridge toll). Each extra passenger beyond the first is about $4 and each extra bag about $2.

Car Rental

Major international chains operate from the terminal, so renting a car on arrival is straightforward if you want to explore New Providence independently.

Insider tip

Nassau's taxi industry is tightly regulated and has historically resisted ride-hailing apps, so don't count on Uber or Bolt working reliably here — budget for the posted fixed-zone taxi fare instead, and confirm the rate with your driver before pulling away.

Transport routes, fares and operators change frequently. Verify current options on the official Lynden Pindling International Airport website before travel.

Ground Transport Tips for NAS

Only use official taxi ranks or pre-booked apps at Lynden Pindling International Airport. Avoid unofficial drivers approaching you in arrivals.
If a rail or metro connection exists, it is usually the fastest and most reliable option during rush hour.
Allow extra time for ground transport during peak hours. Nassau city traffic can significantly extend journey times.
Download offline maps for Nassau before landing — useful if your data connection is slow on arrival.
If travelling with heavy luggage, a private transfer or taxi is often more practical than public transport.
