Mexico City Benito Juárez International Airport is connected to Mexico City and the wider Mexico transport network by multiple ground transport options.
Metro Line 5's Terminal Aérea station serves Terminal 1 only, at a flat fare of about MXN 6 — the cheapest option, but it requires at least one transfer to reach most tourist areas and is realistically only practical with light luggage.
Metrobús Line 4 (about MXN 30) serves both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 and is a reasonable middle option toward Centro, San Lázaro, Reforma or Buenavista with manageable luggage.
Use the official authorized taxi (sitio) booth inside arrivals, which sells fixed-price tickets by destination zone (roughly MXN 250-450 depending on the neighbourhood) — this is the safety-recommended option. Avoid unsolicited drivers approaching you outside arrivals offering a lower 'special price' followed by a much higher charge on arrival — a well-documented scam at this airport.
As of a March 2026 rule change, Uber and DiDi are no longer permitted to pick up passengers inside the MEX terminal, with active enforcement reported. Rideshare still works normally for airport-bound trips from your hotel; confirm the current pickup situation before counting on it for departure from the airport itself.
Major international rental companies have counters in the terminals.
The authorized taxi booth inside arrivals is worth the extra few minutes in line — it's the option local guides consistently recommend over street-hailing or unofficial offers at this specific airport.
