Transport Options at MCI
Kansas City International Airport is connected to Kansas City and the wider United States transport network by multiple ground transport options.
RideKC local buses serve the new terminal, but there's no direct express route into downtown — most visitors use a taxi, rideshare, or rental car instead.
Taxi stand outside the terminal; fare downtown is roughly $40–50 and takes about 25–30 minutes.
Uber and Lyft both operate with dedicated pickup areas at the new single terminal.
Rental desks for all major national brands are a short walk from the terminal — a practical choice given KC's spread-out layout and MCI's distance (about 20 miles) from downtown.
MCI's single terminal, opened in 2023, is a major upgrade from the old three-terminal layout — but there's still no rail link, so budget for a 25–30 minute drive if you're headed downtown.
