Getting Around
How to get to and from Kigali International Airport — taxis, public transport, shuttles and car rental.
Transport Options at KGL
Kigali International Airport is connected to Kigali and the wider Rwanda transport network by multiple ground transport options.
A public city bus runs to Kigali's central business district from a stop about 400m from the terminal (one-way ticket about RWF 300, day pass RWF 600); a direct shuttle bus (about RWF 1,000) and shared matatu minibuses also serve a nearby road.
Regular taxis and moto-taxis wait in the ground transportation area; fares are negotiated before you get in rather than metered, so agree a price up front.
Yego Cab, Rwanda's local ride-hailing app, operates in Kigali, though airport pickup reliability can vary; Uber does not currently operate in Rwanda.
Several companies have on-site counters, some open 24 hours; a few also offer a 'car on arrival' service if booked ahead of your flight.
The terminal isn't open around the clock and has limited landside seating, so if you're arriving very early or have a long wait before check-in opens, a nearby hotel (several are a 5–10 minute drive away) is more comfortable than the terminal itself.
